Shane and Dean made some excellent points. When it gets to the point of namecalling, it's ridiculus. For those of you who replied with hostility to my posts, I ask you to reread them, not so you can be convinced of anything, but so you can see that I did not mean to create enmity between us. I just wanted to voice my opinion on the subject at hand, which, last time I checked, is not a crime. If you guys read my posts you will see no namecalling, just me defending myself from it. I don't think you are stupid or evil, I just get a little edgy when herpetoculture begins to look like some of the pet trades (dog, cat, rodent, etc.). I think the issue of hybridization will not cease. People will continue to do it, and others will continue to oppose it. To hunnylamb (spelling?): I think you may be off in assuming that everyone who posts here is a commercial reptile breeder or just another hobbyist. You made a sarcastic comment below that may have been targeted at the wrong person. Some of the people who post here (and especially on ANOTHER forum) are ACTUALLY focused on science, though in many cases, your sarcasm would apply. I am actually beginning leucostoma research in an area that has repeatedly produced natural hybrids. I am currently an undergrad, but I will definately go for a grad degree and maybe eventually a phd. I have a 4.0 in my honors BIOL class, and have higher test scores than anyone I know. I have never made a dime on a reptile. On that note, I don't remember ever even selling a reptile. I keep some herps, but if I had to stop in the interest of science I would (I actually may have to soon). No hard feelings folks! I guess you just can't interpret emotion with this electronic media. Anyway, I'd like to now use this forum as I originally thought it was meant to be, if you guys understand that I don't hate you (If you hate me it's okay. I get enough love to make up for it.)... TRUCE!
Now, to get on with Post-hybrid war life...
1.Hunnylamb, where does your alias come from? It's downright bizarre.
2. I had some pics of a natural intergrade I found. It was a clarkii with some confluens influence, and Scott Wahlberg, who was herping with me when we found it, currently has it. I also found a confluens X transversa cross earlier this year in the same location, but didn't have a camera on me. I tried to post the clarkii X confluens pics on here but the pic wouldn't upload. Is there a size limit on pics? And, are you guys even interested in seeing pics of wild hybrids we find?
