Winter sucks!

GerardS Jan 08, 2012 06:46 PM

Not in Florida though, it's pretty nice. It was like 65 today so my daughter and I went to a Spring run today to see some sea cows. I have swam the whole thing but it's closed when these guys show up. There was 181 today.

Yeah, it got to 29 the other night for a couple hours. It pushes them all out of the st. Johns into the springs warm water.

I see them almost every time I go fishing down south. Never in the numbers you see here. I saw a lot of dead ones a couple years ago when we got that big freeze. Sad! There was a lot of dead crocs too.

Yep, I live like 5 minutes away. It's a nice park. It's has a deep hole in the spring you can swim down. I met some guys that went over a hundred feet down one day. Its a small run but really nice.

My wife and I try and go to diffent springs and trails as much as possible. Right now it's a little hard but soon we will be hitting again. Rainbow river is a lot of fun too.

Very cool! That is one of the reasons why I considered moving to FL at one time. All the really neat outdoor activities to do. Every year after the Daytona show, our friends and us would drive around different parts of FL, visiting parks, zoos, and springs.

Cool shots!.......

I feel bad for the Manatee's when it gets real cold. Like you said, a couple years ago when it was INSANELY COLD for a very long time, there is a canal by me where they congregate and are closely watched by wildlife people. Some got very sick and died which was really sad. They were stacked up like freakin chord wood at this one place there were so many of them.

I remember that. Everything was waked out during that winter. I saw so many animals not where they were supposed to be. I saw even more dead stuff. It stunk so bad in some places. I hate the cold!

Wow! There is a place in Tampa where the water is heated by the Electric company cooling their turbines and stuff, and they find a nice haven there to wait out the winter.
