Boaphile Plastic Cages

Relict Jan 08, 2012 09:06 PM

How do you guys feel about these cages for Pituophis? I am looking into a more aesthetically pleasing cage for my P. ruthveni and like the look of these cages, but figured I'd ask here to see if anyone has used them for their Pituophis.
Thanks,

If this is representative of the cage design, it looks rather dark to me. I use big glass tanks to give my pits as much light as possible (not direct sun, of course). You'd have to install light, I would think. Also, I am wondering about enough ventilation. My big glass tanks have screen tops. Pits seem to need a lot of ventilation. Also, the boaphile cages open from the front, not the top so when you open it the bedding would tend to fall out. With my glass tanks I can give my snakes several inches of aspen to burrow in, and give them more temp gradients as well.

On the plus side, the boaphiles are stackable and look very easy to clean. Also very durable.

i havent used my boaphiles for pits, but i've housed dumerils boas, argentine boas, cal kings, corns, black milks, and balls in them. all without any complaints (other than price).

they are very sturdy, very easy to clean, look great, very easy to heat with flex and a thermostat, i've never had bedding fall out even with my black milks who like to push aspen all over the place. I have all of mine facing a large window in a spare bedroom so they get plenty of light. ventilation is fantastic, but not so much that the cages lose heat.

the only possible problem i can think of is very aggresive pits might come lunging out the front and onto the floor.

I'd need to see some good pics of your ruthveni first.
