even if you have good intentions I don't want others to know, even if I did know. these toads are famous for other things. not going to help people with bad intentions. they are not that common in the pet trade anyway. good for them.

are those the "licking toads?" IMO anyone who would lick a toad is psycho. Couldn't you get salmonella, as well as die from the bufotoxin?

Not as much licking. Licking is a little more of an urban legend and would produce even more adverse effects. The normal is the smoking of the dried skin or collection of toxins to smoke them. Andy

Hi,

A good friend of mines cousine has a colony of 5 adult alvarius. He "milks" them every few weeks and smears the toxin onto a piece of glass. The toxin is then dried, scraped off of the glass and smoked. He sells the hits for $10 each. It is cruel to the toads. They have to be pretty ticked off in order to produce the toxin, but then again it is a natural deffense and isn't too much different than the people who wave their hands in front of frilled dragons to get them to extend their hood/frill. In my oppinion there are a lot of safer and better drugs out there. Well, talk to you later

if you dont feel safe ordering directly from a breeder, you can have a local pet store order you one (they will hardly ever give you their sources, but you could easily find them online.) This way, the shop gets the animal in, and you can see it before you buy it. As long as you didn't sign a contract. Otherwise just look in the kingsnake classifieds or do an online search. Goodluck!

not realy interested in licking it, If i wanted to do that I would just lick my cane toad. I have always admired alvarius since the first time I laid eyes on one at a zoo. I think they are the prettiest toads Ive ever seen. I guess I just love having big toads around. Ive got a 7 inch marinus, And a ameracanus thats close to 5 inches.(from beaver island michigan) the toads up there get pretty big. diet consists largely of snakes. The one toad I havent ever owned is the sanoran desert toad.

I agree, Colorado River Toads are very beautiful. It's a shame that people abuse the animal like that, they're a living creature, not a drug dispenser. I'd love to get one for my collection of North American Toad Species. They are North America's largest species of toad.

Have you ever owned a blombergs toad? Bufo blombergi, if so where did you get it and how long ago?
