1) - Why do BRBs change color at night?

2) - My female BRB almost never climbs. Last night she was very arboreal for a while. Why? Nothing had really changed in her cage; no temp changes or defecations.

These are two almost impossible questions to answer.

I have never heard of a good reason for why some BRB’s change color at night. I have nearly 60 in my collection and not even half go through this phenomenon. The ones that do get what I would call ‘white sides’. It’s interesting to me and I have asked this same question myself. I think because not all BRB’s to this and it doesn’t seem to be gender specific, this is probable going to be a mystery for a while.

BRB’s are not arboreal like Chondros or even cook’s boas (Amazon tree boas that are semi arboreal). I see baby BRB’s climbing a lot but I don’t think I have ever seen an adult. There could be many reasons why your BRB was climbing. This is not something I would worry about.

Thanks for the response John. I had no idea that not all BRBs exhibit the color change.

Thanks. That theory certainly makes sense.
