Those are awesome, John. Looks like you have a very nice collection back then as well. Did you collect the San Patricio County stock your self?

I collected the one on the blue care fresh myself.......I thought it was the nicest south Texas Splendida that I've ever seen.....

The younger one was given to me by a buddy at a local pet store and I thought it looked more like an Arizona getula. He told me that it was found in San Patricio county....I thought back then it may be possible after finding that nice one but I never bred it......Still not sure if what a locale getula or not but I don't have them any more........

The Calhoun county hatchling is from wild collected eggs.....and all the others were found by me. My buddy Todd Hughes and I had a great collection of them back then....I think Todd still has some......

I want to get out this Summer and see if I can find some around here...if they are still around....lol

Here's some more Nueces County Splendida......or intergrades....

You know, there is nothing cooler than finding this stuff your self. I bet you really appreciated what you had. The reason why I ask about those kings is because this one looks like it has Cal king in it, but no way it could if you found it in Texas. I learned something new.

And yeah, that other one does look like an AZ slendida. I've seen a lot posted like that from there on fhf.

Cool stuff John!......

You can definitely see the unique characteristics of the specific locales in their phenotypes..

Yep...thanks Doug....

It seems getula North of the Copano Bay (Calhoun and Refugio Counties) near the coast are holbrooki phenotypes mainly.....just south of the Bay in Aransas County you'll find intergrades...the further South you go you'll see Dark Splendida like the Nueces species pictured.....

Then we have some isolated Padre island getula......Nueces County too but they certainly have their own look as do the triangulum there.....

I can't wait for it to warm up.....

Yep, I concur...

I've been doing similar stuff with certain milk subspecies, plotting and matching up their locality phenotypes to which specific area(s) and elevation preferences in their known ranges.
