Unbelievable ! Paradox Albino Pied ?

steelcityexotics Jan 23, 2012 08:26 AM

I came home last night to my last clutch in the incubator piping. It was a double het albino pied X double het albino pied. With six brown heads poking out I was heartbroken.

I couldn’t believe I missed the elusive 1/16 albino pied again. And this time I didn’t even get any pied pos het albinos or albino’s pos het pied. But then this one head looked a little different to me. It had a yellowish white spot on the center of its head.

Well with a few snips I could clearly see this was no normal snake. It was the coolest looking thing I ever seen. It was an albino pied but with normal sections of pied. Check out the pic and tell me what you guys think. Paul at Steel City Exotics.

Congrats - from what I can see its going to be a really nice looking ball.
I think you hit on odds that are much lower than 1 in 16.
What are the odds that a 1 in 16 would also be paradox?

steelcityexotics Jan 23, 2012 09:09 AM

I have no idea. Now all I can do is hope its a male

muddoc Jan 23, 2012 10:27 AM

That is going to be an amazing looking snake. Please make sure to remember to post pics once it is out. I think there is still plenty we can't see while it is still in the egg.

Yor right Tim, it is killing me lol. Jeff, I only have one snake in there. You can see where the reg pied rolls right into the albino section. It looks really cool. I will post pics as soon as he or she is out. Paul

hurqleys Jan 23, 2012 10:42 AM

It looks like a albino/pied transplant, lol. IMHO, I would prefer 2 seperate genes showing in one snake rather than in combination. Its like a cyborg

Incredible!!! That is just awesome!

steelcityexotics Jan 23, 2012 07:43 PM

Well I just checked on the little guy and its still not out yet but I took a few pics so you can see what I have here. I love the way right behind the head is albino and then it goes back into pied. I think by tomorrow night it should be all the way out and I will be able to post pics. But in the meantime enjoy. Paul Wyble at Steel City Exotics

Paul
That is so cool! The only bad thing is that you won't have anything to look forward to anymore because you'll never produce a cooler looking snake then that.

MSConstrictors Jan 24, 2012 03:08 AM

Wow, that is simply amazing!! Congrats!!! I love the brightness of the orange on him!!

bcvreptiles Jan 23, 2012 10:42 PM

Freaking amazing!
I'm guessing genetics couldn't make up its mind whether to switch to albino/pied, albino or pied. Kinda just mixed it all in and said, "Here ya go".

Congrats!

steelcityexotics Jan 24, 2012 05:48 AM

Well it is all the way out and it is in fact a boy. Let me know what you guys think of him. Paul Wyble at Steel City Exotics

Lizards of Oz Jan 25, 2012 08:29 AM

To bad about the defective paint job. I'll take him off your hands if you just want to get rid of him. Kidding of course. He is amazing! Talk about a one in a million... Some guys have all the luck.

That is a very confused snake! Gorgeous!

Marcial Jan 24, 2012 12:49 PM

Very cool animal... congrats!

How do paradox animals breed, as a het or homozygous? In other words, if you breed this guy to a female albino pied, would you get all albino pieds (like you would if he was not a paradox), or would you have some het animals in there as well?

steelcityexotics Jan 24, 2012 01:48 PM

@ Marcial,
Well I believe its a albino pied so if you bred it to an albino female it would produce all albinos 100% het pied. The paradox part does not alter the genetics at all, its just a really cool piece of eye candy. Unless this one proves to be genetic. Time will tell on that though. Paul

very sweet snake...male...cool...

but

what is he...?

is it an amel pied paradox? or is it a pied het amel paradox?...

could be pied showing it's "het" markers freakishly?...

...hopefully for you...and all others...this is a freak amel pied......and when bred to another amel pied...you get all amel pieds....and a few freaks to boot....!

good luck...crossed fingers brother....!

I hope everyone has a great season this year and I'm sure we are going to see more cool things like this pop up from time to time. Paul Wyble at Steel City Exotics.

ScubaTim Jan 26, 2012 01:28 AM

That is truly one of the most beautiful snakes ive ever seen! I wonder what the odds are to produce such a thing? Congrats on that jackpot! If only we could nail down the makeup of the paradox!

TerryHeuring Jan 26, 2012 10:06 PM

I give!!!!!!!!!! I thought I had the genetics thing figured out.Wow, that is too cool.
