I was looking around for a baby/juvenile snake rack for under 300. I was wondering if anybody knows of a site with a good price like that if anybody has any good experiences with a site where they purchased a rack that is close in price to 300.
Thanks

I have several Animal Plastics "economy" racks and love them. Just make sure you get the right tubs for the racks or you will have some escapees. The 6 Quart racks require the newer tubs from sterile, not the older ones. The old ones leave a gap that is a little too big at the top. They are great people to deal with. Ali will take care of you!

I too have a Animal Plastics Economy Rack and am very pleased with it.

I have the 1753(06)EP which will hold 12 1753(15qt) or 6 1755(32qt) tubs.

Sorry about that. I just noticed he is selling his business.

Anyway, they were grat rack. I doubt anyone will ship them though because finding a box with the exact same demensions with styrofoam posts is unlikely.

Have you checked Craigslist in your area? Sometimes you will find racks there and it is for local pickup.

Amarillo craigslist sucks. I check anyway but man...I just hope someone takes it over and does well with his business. That seemed like an AWESOME baby rack.

It's not too difficult, and you can pick the size tubs you want.

Check this link to the Kingsnake Housing and Enclosure forum. I made a smaller "trial" version of this and it is working great so far.

I've seen those before. They look pretty easy to build, and you can adjust the shelves to any height. It looks like it might be a little shifty, is it? If it is, you can add some wood strips on the back and side for stability.

I made this juvenile rack for under 100 bucks. It has worked awesome and I used standard melamine shelving to make it. (17 inch wide) I built two ten tub racks that screw together to make one twenty tub rack and used dimmers for heat control. 11 inch wide flexwatt on the back with peg board to disperse heat. Very simple and took about two hours to build including wiring the heat and dimmers. I used very thin cardboard as spacers so the tubs are pretty tight----no snake can get out of these.

I like that Joe, looks easy and very sturdy!

Nope...they are rigid as hell...There is a nut on the bottom and top of each shelf......I've had mine for over 2 years now....
Craig used some of my directions for that post......They are great shelves.....
That picture with the heat cable is mine.....

It's a great design, thanks for sharing your plans. I used shorter pieces of all-thread so my version is short but I still used 5/8" diameter and it is super sturdy. The best part is that it can be fine tuned to fit any size box and can be changed any time.

I got the idea for these from a guy on the BP forum, made them for a CB 70, 28 quart, this is a 15 quart, and you can see that the top level is 4 6 quarts. INSANELY cheap to make and I have a few local guys knocking my door down to buy some!

No I don't, and no escapees! The bars on the front and the cord around the back and sides keep that from happening. Also I can hose it all down with no issues, love it!

There's something I'm missing? The shelves have large slits, what did you do to cover them?

The bottom of each shelf, or the "roof" has white board (dry erase) glued to it so that no bugs or eggs can be caught in any cracks, easy to wipe off and good with humidity. And the snakes can get out or rub their noses.

You know most of us don't want our snakes to get out or rub their noses! Sorry, had to say it. HA HA.

Very good! I figured it had to be something like that, thanks! I like the whole ideah. I may have to go price some of those shelves. I am having less time to custom build racks these days, and that looks pretty easy, and quick to assemble.

So what company makes the shelving that was used and where are they sold?. Those do look like they have good practical and inexpensive possibilities.

Try Animal Plastics. They make a rack holding 27 shoe boxes for just over that price.
