Radio Interview with USARK

here's the direct link
http://www.herpnation.com/hn-video/h...ederal-ruling/

It's about 18 minutes long. To summarize: He discusses the groups that pressured and lobbied to get this rule through: Nature Conservancy (nature.org), Defenders of Wildlife ([url ban]) and the HSUS (humanesociety.org). Clarifies what the rule listing effects and means for those that didn't understand it (no import or transportation across state lines).

Discusses the 'true' agendas (you know.. $$). Talks about prior actions our (reptile nation) coming together was able to fight and that the fight is still not over, exploring legal options. Says the time for petitions, etc is over... only way to go forward is legal recourse, which is a federal lawsuit and they are still working on how to get it going. The focus of which will be to debunk the faulty science used to get this through in the first place. It is going to be expensive to fight.

He touches the current laws in other states that are trying to get pushed through and how those need to be addressed in addition the fund raising for the lawsuit. He says the independent Georgetown Economic survey that was funded by USARK is what helped save the 5 species that did not make the listing at this time (due to their economical impact according to statements made by Ken Salazar). Rodda and Reed have taken a lot of criticism (justly deserved imo).

Sorry for the poor grammar, typing while listening

Thank you April

It seems like USARK just wants more money. that is all you hear money money money. so far it doesn't seem like they are helping all that well. but i bet Mr. Wyatt is profiting very well off the reptile nation and we keep losing our rights.I think PIJAC is the way to go...... just my opinion

lairofdragons Jan 26, 2012 11:14 AM

Really....that's all you heard...money
Everything cost money when you want to change something
Change something in your house...money
Change the oil in your car...money
Want to buy votes and fight the Gov't...a lot of money
Or should the people fighting for our rights (USARK)...do it on their dime so you can continue to make Money breeding your snakes.

Non-profits organizations can keep up to 20% for their pay...not a one person show and last time I checked everyone expects to get paid for doing their job.

I could not agree more!
Pijac has been fighting for our rights as a animal industry for years and has always done it without constantly being on $ patrol.

The conference here in Virginia this week really proved that pijac is light years ahead of the game, and has our best interest in mind and nothing else.

We are proud to support pijac in this fight.

Why didn't pijac stop this ban ? Just asking.

I support USARK 100%.

Hi Josh,

While I agree that PIJAC is an important ally in this battle that deserves our strong support, USARK is an organization comprised of/for reptile people. We need a reptile specific organization to attack this ruling head on. While I have, and will continue to support PIJAC, I stand behind USARK 100% because we/they have the most to lose with this nonsensical ruling and they remain at the spearpoint of this fight. Thanks.

Will

That is all they are talking about because that is what is needed to pay the lawyers to fight this. This is going to cost millions of dollars to successfully fight in a federal lawsuit. A lawsuit that will likely take years. Good lawyers and investigators do not work cheap and it is going to take lots of both to take on the federal government and the corrupt agencies that stand to gain with this ruling.

Now is not the time to be cheap folks. the writing is on the wall and ball pythons will be on the chopping block soon, and by then it will be too late. This hobby/business will be a memory.

If your enemy is crying about you, you must be pretty gosh darn effective.

I have read two different things from two different "enemies".

Guess which organization they were complaining about? USARK

Want to know why you keep hearing money, money, money? Because THAT is exactly what this all boils down too.

And if you are thinking that USARK just wants to profit, then perhaps read their financial statements, understand them, and then come over here and post something that seems "educated".

Were you aware that PIJAC and USARK were working together in Ohio and Virginia? And that PIJAC is in full support of USARK's lead and position on these issues? If you question this FACT please contact Mike Canning, PIJAC CEO, and ask him yourself..... This is not a USARK/ PIJAC pissing contest. PIJAC is in FULL support of our lead on reptile issues.

Further, I find the comments of Josh and burmsand balls to be very devisive in a time of unprecedented cooperation between PIJAC and USARK under the new leadership of CEO Mike Canning. Educate yourselves to the facts and issues before you go accusing and criticizing from a position of ignorance. The community needs to unite in a time of dire uncertainty; not degenerate into attacking each other...
