Going away for weekends

tarad00 Oct 03, 2003 10:39 AM

Yesterday I just wrote about what to do if I go away every weekend as far as lighting. I was also curious about a food source that I should leave to? Superworms, crickets, greens, pellets, etc.

thanks

Greens tend to get a little nasty on the second day. If your beardie is one that eats all of his greens the first day then you wouldn't have to worry about him eating the dried up stuff on the second day. You could leave some supers in a clear dish large enough so that they couldn't get out, but small enough so that your beardie can see what's in it. If you can get your beardie to eat pellets, they will stay moist better than the greens will. You could leave a moist plate of soggy pellets in there for him. I wouldn't advice on leaving crickets in his enclosure at night. If you can't be there to remove what he doesn't eat then you run the risk of the crickets chewing on your beardie while he sleeps. It has happened. It's not a pretty site.

Ultimately, the best thing is to have someone come in and refresh his salad bowl. You could have the salad premade in the frige. It wouldn't take but a second for someone to do that. And they don't have to know anything about beardies to do that.
