I hope it is fair. Diane Rehm is typically pretty even handed; however, I find NPR in general often comes down on the AR side in its reporting. Remember, that nut Tracie Hotchner broadcasts on NPR!

Hopefully this will help with the lack of awareness of pet owners of what HSUS is truly all about.

it would probably be in our best interest to direct all of our questions to andrew rather than to wayne or tim.
it doesn't matter how we try to "stick it" to wayne or tim (harrison), they've both got enough media savvy to be able to either A) turn the question around on us or B) ignore it completely and talk about whatever they wanna talk about.
that's why i think we should make it a priority to ask andrew questions that someone "unfamiliar with reptiles" might ask, but still something that would set him up to share something with the general public that we already know.
I agree!
Does anyone know if this will be available to listen to after the broadcast? I won't be able to listen while at work.
I sent in some general questions:
How will this Lacey act listing affect someone who keeps the listed species if they want to move into a new state? Will the person have to get rid of their snakes or can they take them across state lines since they are personal pets? (*I already know the answer of course)
Do you know when the general public will find out if the other species that are still ‘under review’ are to be added or disregarded?

Jonathan Brady wrote a blog after speaking with Andrew Wyatt (USARK) regarding the "Other 5" that are still under consideration by the USFWS...

ok, so that didn't answer your question?
in all likelihood we won't ever hear if they decide NOT to. they are likely going to hang on to it indefinitely to keep us guessing (or keep us afraid, more likely). if they decide to add them, it will likely happen quickly and with little warning.
so essentially, until we hear from a lawyer with expertise in that area we simply won't know if they still have the ability to add those last 5 at will after initially "side-lining" them or if they have to start the process all over again.

by bringing up the 5 species that were left off, I was hoping it might help prompt a discussion of why they were left off - that it would have brought economic impact above 100M which would result in the USGS 'study' to be reviewed to adhere to information quality standards for science because the rule did not meet the standard for a major rule making ($100 million).
oooohh! sorry about that. i misunderstood.
i thought only your first question was one you sent and the second was an actual question you had! my bad
no worries, it's all good!

Stay vigilant my friends
