How to create air circulation

Misskiwi67 Oct 03, 2003 11:15 AM

I'm trying to get ideas for this display thing (see my post from last week) and one of the problems I'm running into is lack of air circulation. There is a glass door on one side that could be replaced by screen, plexiglass, or a combination of both to create a place for air to circulate as needed. The problem occurs during the summer, when the air conditioning turns on. The display itself doesn't have any vents nearby, but there have been problems in the past with cold air settling to the bottom of the cage where it doesn't move, and the animals inside (gerbils) got very cold. Would strip heating and basking lights remove this problem completely, or is there another way to circulate the air?

lemme see if i can help, the way i circulate air in my 260gal waterdragon enlosure is a computer fan, i have at the top blowing the warmer air downward, but i also have adequate ventilation from the start, so either a plexiglass/screen combo, or drill holes in plexiglass, maybe a comp fan near a heat source(ceramic heat emitter, basking light etc.)just be sure to guard heating elements to avoid possible burns, hope this helps, keelsey
