Nics or Long tails boas?

Boakeeper35 Feb 05, 2012 10:56 AM

So for about a month now I have been searching for and looking up all kinds of boas. I'm trying to decide what kind of boa I want to buy two of too breed. I narrowed it down to Nicaraguan boas and Long tail boas. They both have traits that I really like about them but I cant decide which one I want. Let me know what you think about the two, any and all opinions welcome. Thanks

longicauda are way more fun

Wow those two are awesome looking. Are they regular long tails or are they Anery? The coloration is great. Also how is their feeding response? One thing that annoys me with some types of snakes is when they refuse food lol.

They are anery hypermels. Some are slow to start but they are crazy feeders once they get going.

Ok so Anery Hypermel. I might sound like an idiot but how do you get hyper mels? I see an Anery for sale on Fauna that im debating on getting. Depending on how you get hyper mels it might push me to make that decision. Its a baby but that gives me time to learn the ins and outs of the local before I attempt to breed them.

still working on the genetics. it appears to be a dominate trait at the moment. going to some more out crossing before i do a hyper to hyper breeding to find out if there is a super form.

Nics are as generic as the latest morph,go with a true
Classic locale

Definitely a good point.

I have both. They're care is pretty much the same. The nics are cool because they have a very unique look and stay small. My adults are 2'-3'.

Longicauda get bigger and are much more variable as far as looks go. I never get two animals that look the same from a litter. I think longicauda have more personality too.

If I had a choice between the two I'd go with the longicauda.....or you can get both like I did

I have pics that I can post when I get home.

Yea it deff seems like most people like the long tails better. Right now I have a regular female Nic and I was debating on getting another pair so that I would have a trio to breed but I'm deff going to go with the long tails. The diversity of their looks are awesome. Not another boa out there that looks as unique in my opinion. Thanks for sharing.
