I called and said " I am responding to HB# and I wanted to thank you for your concerns about dangerous animals. I believe the bill is over reaching with its labeling of dangerous animals. The boa constrictor for example is my main area of concern, and to say that they are dangerous seems way out of line. I believe their may be 1 total death (thousands of owners) in US history from a boa constrictor , and therefore see zero reason to have them on any listing as a dangerous animal. The person that I spoke with was cordial and said most bills are ammended and this bill is likely to be ammended. She didnt say boas would be ammended, rather that most initial language can be very broad, which allows for ammendments to tighten the bill up. Who knows, but its a 2 minute call at the most. Add your opinions and facts and we can win this battle in Illinois. Ohio is next

I'm just a 'hobbyist' from Oregon, if I can take the time out to do it, everyone can!
Anyone who's not a smooth or persuasive speaker- there's no problem with writing yourself a little script or set of cue cards! It does help, and ensures that your point gets across.

I can't believe all of this is happening so quickly...
