Four of my littlest alterna hatchlings ate this week. These all ate a few meal last summer/fall, then were cooled when they stopped eating.

I still have some that have not eat their first meal, and they are looking very thin. Will keep trying.

Here are two clutchmates. The large one has obviously not skipped many meals.

I hope so too. I withheld water for a few days, then offered the f/t pinks dripping wet. I ended up assist feeding a couple. One is still holding out for live anoles, so he got the pet store special.

Cool, it's crazy some take so long to get eating. Have you tried giving them a skink?

Not many skinks in the Pacific Northwest. I have been able to get anoles and fence lizards from out of state sources.

Good show on the four that have eaten again!
On the ones that have not eaten anything ever, you may try getting them to eat a tiny piece of lizard by getting the food in their mouth then gently pushing it in with a small blunt object to get them to swallow. This will stimulate their digestive system and hopefully set the feeding response in motion.

I did assist feed a couple of these. One ate a live pinky in aspen from the lizard cage. Maybe that scent helped, or maybe she was just hungry!

Thats how it was for me. The males are easy to spot and I had the females confirmed. Dave

It's amazing how much different the sizes can be from those who start eating right away, and those who start late. I can't wait to have some Alterna babies of my own.
