Really Needed More Snakes....

pyromaniac Feb 17, 2012 10:06 AM

Traded one of my 2011 babies (the one with no black crossovers) to my friend Herb, who is striving to breed that type. He knows I prefer the heavy black, hence the trade. He gave me one of these females as a replacement for Blaze, who had died recently. We talked about why Blaze died, and Herb didn't think I had done anything wrong; sometimes sh*t just happens. I respect his opinion, as he has been breeding snakes for decades.

He also gave me this cute little Pacific gopher snake which was found in the basement of a bank in Cave Junction, Oregon.

i to have bred snakes for decades and unforunately some are just NOT meant to make it, no matter what ya do.
of course many folks have CONTROL issues and cannot accept that some things cannot/will not be controlled, so yeah i agree... shat happens.

It is hard to not have an explanation. Even though sh*t happens, I have the kind of mind that will pick over this indefinitely searching for an answer. I wish I would have frozen the body so I could eventually find a vet to to do a necropsy. But I was so bummed I just burnt it up in the fireplace, a fitting funeral for little Blaze.

Because she was from a bank but was free, I have named her Zero, for zero interest rate. About the only thing I have gotten from a bank I like....
