New Pacific

pyromaniac Feb 17, 2012 10:13 AM

This little guy was found in the basement of a bank in Cave Junction, Oregon. My friend Herb was visiting friends at the bank when a bank employee came up from the basement saying there's a rattlesnake down there! The janitor went down wearing a big oven mitt and caught it, and immediately my friend saw it was just a harmless gopher snake, so he brought it home. He isn't into pits so he gave it to me.

How fun, and a neat looking little gopher too. I like the dual spotting in places and those pinkish tones. Male or female?

She is a little female. My friend was impressed with her clear markings. Usually Pacifics are sort of muddy but this one is very crisp.

Josephine County? There's name potential there for a female catenifer from that locality. Or would that be Jozephine? Here's a nicely patterned individual that I found last May near Sacramento...

Not your typical locality Pacific, in fact, you don't see very many from Oregon at all. Will be interesting to see how those colors and the pattern mature. I love the story behind this one too...

Thanks!
She has the usual sweet disposition of Pacifics, too. I am surprised more people don't have Pacifics. I know in California one is allowed to have only four; but in other states I don't think there is a limit.
