What are the best snake racks?

tsusnakeguy Feb 18, 2012 05:50 PM

I am looking into possibly getting a rack system. I have built all my own stuff to this point but I want to go nice and uniform. I like manufactured racks because I like how the tubs have no grooves and seem easier to clean. I was just wondering what rack systems people out there liked. Which ones are the cheapest but good? I would appreciate any opinions.

I use boaphile plastics. I like them a lot but there are others out there. I think it depends on your preference.

I meant to say that I wanted a rack that would house adult red tail boas.

Yeap, I use boaphile for my adults as well. They make stackable cages in addition to their racks. For my bigger (6 ft) BRB's I like a 4 x 2. I also use the 3 x 2 for smaller females. I just use the racks for my males as the tend not to get more than 3.5 to 4 ft.

But again, I know that there are a lot of ppl out there that build great looking racks and stackable cages. It just depends on what you like. A quick internet search should reveal many different type that you can choose from.

If you have the money to spend on anything boaphile, BUY ANIMAL PLASTICS!!!! The cages simply do not compare in my opinion.

If you are hurting for funds, but still want a very nice rack or cage (can take 2 months to get though) try Repti-Racks Caging!!!!

I have purchased cages from Neodesha, Animal Plastics, Boaphile, and Repti-Racks cages.

Here is my ranking from best to worst:

1. Animal Plastics (heavier, more pricy, must assemble)
2. Repti-Racks (VERY light, nice looking, solid, cheap $$$)
3. Neodesha (scary sliding glass door, not nice looking)
4. Boaphiles

I also build my own hatchling racks, and used to build adult racks for my BRBs. If you want to look into building a rack, I can give you some detailed info on my HUGE adult rack I built that has 4.5 ft long tubs. I bred BRBs in this for a few years before I decided to upgrade to commercial caging. Still worked great though and never had any issues!

forgot to mention the cons of Boaphiles cages. I have a much harder time maintaining humidity in these cages. They have unecesarily large gaps all the way around the doors. I also prefer a little bit more vertical space and can get 15 inch tall cages for MUCH less than their 4x2x12s. I will say that I like their door latches on the boaphiles, but thats really it!

Would you mind shooting me a copy of those plans for your BRB racks, please?
