What should night temps be?

stenodactylus Feb 19, 2012 08:37 PM

I haven't used a night lamp ever for my western hog nose, I just had a heat pad and my house only gets to the mid to low 60s at night in the winter. I just changed to a cage that can't use a heat mat, so what is the ideal night temp? The herp store guy just said to run a red light 24/7 but don't they need a cool down?

I see no reason to have to cool them down at night.

i agree with Gregg, hogs do not need a night drop, BUT in my opinion, you should switch back to a cage that can use a heat pad.. using bulbs to heat snake enclosures does not allow an adequate thermal gradient and will lower humidity in the enclosure and cause issues down the road..
