Help! I think my beardeds are sick

Rtegu Oct 03, 2003 03:13 PM

I have 2 hatchling bearded's and one of them seemed to get sick before the other. The 1 st guy jut looked really sluggish, but the thing was, he couldn't keep his eyes open. Now the other one is the same. They just close their eyes, sleep, and dont eat. They cant be hibernating b/c the daylight hours are the same. They have their eyes constantly closed even when I hold them. Please give me advice on what to do. So far i've been giving them Jump start caloric supplement and I soaked them in warm water. One guy actually had a bowel movement so I dont think its an intestinal blockage.

The first thing you always want to do is check your temps and lights, especially
Basking 100-110
Cool side 80-85
UVB fluorescent light

Try giving them pedialyte for hydration, you could mush up some juvie BD pellets and mix it in for nutrition.

IMO, Jumpstart isn't what it's cracked up to be..a lot of fat.

Another possibility is parasites. You would need to get a fecal done.

be sure to check those temps etc and do get a fecal like said also, until then if they arent eating a good mix is baby parrot food mixed with pedialyte and water, keep it on the runny side and offer it via dropper or feeding syringe, just drop it on the snout and they should lap it up.
