I have two large females I'm looking to move....one is 2,400 grams and the other is 2,000 grams.

What is the market value on these girls?

I have seen some of these girls go for some very good money.

I think if you swing by and drop them off I could give you $50 each...LOL

Don't sell those girls, put them in with Dave and get 5x what you would get if you sold them now. And then sell the girls after they drop Pastel clutches.

He seems to like the ladies too!

I've seen normal adult females going for $400 ! They are expensive now! Everyone needs them for their co-dom projects I guess.

I have two daughters and I wife I might be willing to sell for $4500. I guess the market in Alabama is on the "high" end. Of course I'm kidding. They are priceless. I'm willing to purchase any 2000 female for $400-450 max.

If you see in his other Ad. he corrected his typo and has it at $500. Now I am not defending anyone that sells normals at this price but he made a typo 4 instead of $ the same key but he didnt hit shift key.

why dont these people delete the old Ad.? and repost a correct version instead of getting ripped on forum and in conversation. I got a call about this while at the Marlins/Giants game 3. I would have left game and even the world series to sell mine if I he sold at this price.

What I don't understand is the market value on normal females. Yeh yeh, I know they are buying them for the morph males but PLEASE $500 bucks??????? Heck for that price I would sell my 2500 gram female.

I sold 2 for a GRAND each this year. That's how much they were worth to ME. And that's how much they were worth to the guy who bought them. Actually, he would have paid $2,000 eah. Easily. He has a Spider and he needed a couple normal females. Once clutch will be worth $50,000 easily. I don't care what you see them for in the pet store. Its all about what the animal is worth to the person. What if it was a cherished pet you had for 25 years? Some people wouldn't trade $10,000 for that. I don't know why people even care what other people are selling their normal females for. The transaction doesn't affect you, so why even comment on it?

I'll never understand why a million people freak out when a guy posts a snake for what appears to be too much. The market will reveal what it will bare. If it's to much it won't sell and that will be the natural consequences for the individual over pricing it. Hey if it sells....more power to him. The market value just went up and if you have some, they are worth more now.....you should be thanking the guy.

The guy to worry about is the one that sells dramatically under market value and drives the market downward.

Now you all now I am non-combative and enjoy most of you here at the BP forum. Yes, I understand the whole "worth to me" thing going on here, but get real!! Obviously NONE of you have checked out the a$$ this guy is. Go to Bob Clarks forums and check out his reasoning, personality, knowledge, and LIES!! There is no way in heck any of you can support what this guy stands for, and if you do...well, my opinion has dropped quite quickly on your reasoning!! Yeah, I know...like you care what I think, but the bottom line here is this is just another looser getting jumping the bandwagon. Obviously an adult female is worth more to some than others, but I tell you what, those people working with Spiders, etc should have FAR better leads to purchasing adult breedable females than Joe Schmoe in a classifieds section on the net!! This has gotten down right disgusting!! I remember posting here awhile back pondering the "value" of decent sized, clean, feeding, females. The range in acceptable prices varied greatly...okay, understandable (again, for obvious reasons) but I bet each and everyone of you, if you did your homework on this guy, you'd spend your money elsewhere!! Any of you remember the "Pastel Jungle"????? Bottom line, I really could care less what the heck people sell their animals for, but this whole BP thing has gotten completely out of hand. If you seriously believe an adult female is worth anywhere near that kind of cash, call me - I'll sell you 62!!!!!!! Oh yeah, and I'll cover all shipping cost!!! PATHETIC

How did you get that I may have been talking about you in my post?? My post was directed solely for anyone who's supporting the idea of a basement seller with little to no knowledge of basic genetics or BP captive care. That simple. It struck me a little weird when I see posts from people saying "more power to 'em" for asking insane money for normals - we've seen this David Evans (the SUBJECT) selling normals as Pastels in the past for $1,250 now we see him posting a WC 2400 gram female ($25 animal) for $4,500 or even $450, he never said it was a typo. Please re-read my post. it was aimed at those who support people like that in the hobby...I'm still pondering how you got that I was talking about you...sorry for any misunderstanding, but if you have the overall opinion that people like (the SUBJECT) should be saluted, and we as the general herp community shouldn't get let this kind of stuff bother us, then yes, I did speak my mind on those who support that kind of crap. Bottom line...the BP market is getting over run with idiots, not knowing what the heck the have or what the offspring will be, I've seen "Pastel" normals, I've seen "Ghosts" normals, I've seen possible possible hets advertised as 66%ers, and now I've seen $4,500 adult females ONLY to read post where people say "yeah, you rock, more power to ya - you go boy" and other post where people say "I don't see why everyone's getting there panties in a bunch, it's his animal, he can sell it for what he wants" Well, it's a sad day in the hobby when someone like that can sell live animals. Some may feel the above formetioned are acceptable in the dod eat dog world of selling herps, but I assure you, those who do represent a very, very small percentage of the general public's opinion. My point is simple......at the end of the day the market dictates everything and it will bare what it will bare. Being a ethical/editcate oriented guy myself I would love for everyone to just instantly comprehend all the "unwritten" rules of reptile sales. Unfortunately, it's not me that keeps everyone in check or educated but the market itself.

Part of the market is not only price but the credability that you build. Part of the consequences of treating people unethically is not getting return business and receiving poor feedback on chats.

Troy, you can give your over priced speaches til you turn blue in the face. You can talk about idiots now entering into the once pure ball market. But at the end of the day......people either buy or they don't....customers get treated well or they don't....buyers either pay up or they don't. That will dictate the boundries of this market, not what you think (by yourself) something is worth.

When I read your reply, I read it with an open mind and what you're saying is true. I usually brush certsin things off, but I have to admit I've let one or two people get under my skin, and I shouldn't. You're exactly right. I sometimes "worry" about the newcomers into the hobby getting a deal like that, and learning the hard way, I hate to see it, but I have to give the "customer" their due, I'm sure most are smart enough to research the seller, and the animal, and make a good decision based on solely their situation. After all, who am I fooling...how could you not get a "general" idea on what is a fair market value on BP's etc, when you have 50 ads going up a day here at KS?!!?! Excellent posts. While it would be nice to think that no one would ever get ripped off or better yet, the would be no one wanting to do the ripping off. But that just isn't going to happen. I think that we can take solice though that most buyers can be given the benefit of the doubt when it comes to making informed decisions. If not, then they learn the hard way and the seller gets a bad rap. Either way, the market will dictate who stays long-term and enjoys the hobby to the fullest!

This is a relative question. A snake can have any number of current values - all differnt and at different ends of the spectrum. For example:

Ralph has a normal male but would like to get a breeding-sized female so he can enjoy the pleasures of breeding. He plans to give most of the offspring to his friends. To Bob, a breeding-sized female might only be worth $100.

Collette has just gotten into Albinos and wants to make a little extra cash. She has an Albino male but no females. She might be willing to pay $250 - $400 for a good breeding-sized female.

Greg has a Pastel project going and has no females. He knows his Pastels will produce the visible morph he wants. He also knows the offspring of the visible morph will sell for around $800 each. For Greg, $600 for a breeding-sized female is a bargain.

Breeder Initial Investment Potential Return
======= ================== ================
Ralph $100 $25-50/per young
Collette $400 $500-1000 for hets
Greg $600 $800-2400 for Pastels

So the same good-sized breedable female is worth $100, $400 and $600. Sometimes this pushes the price higher and poor Ralph is out of luck. This is where supply vs demand moves a price up or down.

Let's look at this from another perspective: rearing.

Yearling - $52 to feed/house
Juvi - $110 to feed/house
3rd year (bring to 1500 grams) - $175 to feed/house

These prices are "ball parks" and assume the breeder also saves money by breeding his own feeders. So, it costs roughly $337 to produce a breeding-sized female. So when someone asks $400, is that excessive? Ask Ralph, Collette and Greg.

It's all relative.
