When are beardies big enough to sell????

keith_ecko Oct 03, 2003 04:24 PM

At what age or size range is appropriate to sell baby beardies...The guy I bought my beardie from said the little male I bought was almost 2 months, but I was wondering if that's the typical timeframe to sell or is there other factors. Typically how often would a 2 month old beardie shed?

i think the minimum is 6 weeks/ 6 inches, but selling them larger, older and well established is always better, some sell even sooner.

I feel comfortable after they complete their first shed sending them on their way. Most of my dragons will have their first shed around 4 weeks(give or take) and most will be 6" at that time. It really depends on the dragons though as they all grow/develop differently. Chris

Minimum 10 grams in weight, 6 inches and well established. Changes are hard on baby dragons under that and we also spend the time they are growing to that adapting them to changes so there is less stress when they leave home.

We also follow a routine the 48 hours before they go to a new home if shipped that helps them adapt to more changes in shipped. And make sure they are ready for that. There have been times I have not shipped an expected baby as we see that he is not ready or conditions are not right to give them that advantage, all new owners have been understanding in this.
