Milking the 23rd

SunHerp Feb 23, 2012 10:19 AM

I work with some generic polyzona in addition to everything else. They're cool animals, though they bite like nobody's business! I acquired this adult female from an importer in 2003.

She was bred to a phenotypically similar male (black and red with a broken snout band limited to the nasal area) from Jimmy Mabe lineage to produce a number of clutches. It is suspected that Mabe's lines of abnorma and polyzona got a bit "confused" during breeding, so the sire was chosen based phenotype. Then again, without good locality info., all we have to go on when breeding milks is phenotype anyhow. Below are a few of their progeny.

You know I'm liking that! I hope both of mine keep the well defined black and red bands just as yours has... really nice Cole.

Still can't believe you and others have problems with their biting, mine are just as easy going as my adult black milk... guess I'm lucky... sorry, can't help putting up another picture of them.

Nice looking milks Cole, and it's good to see the rarely seen south of the boarder stuff for sure.

Cool Cole! Did those animals from Mabe originally come from Dennis Mountain stock by chance? I know Jimmy and Dennis both took turns running Caroway Creek reptiles and Dennis had both abnorma and poly's at one point. Cool critters.
