Flexwatt

Can Flexwatt be used under or on the side of an auquarium? If so, what size should be used to heat a 10 gal auquarium? The air temp. sometimes goes down to 68 degrees in the winter. Thanks.

...flexwatt won't appreciably warm the whole cage, just the area over or near the flexwatt. THAT is the purpose of flexwatt. It is used to provide a localized 'hot-spot', and is more efficient when used under the cage. Generally 10-20% of the floor should be heated. A basking light of moderate intensity can be used for 12-16 hrs daily, plugged into a timer, if the room temp gets below the mid 70's. SJM

...3" x 10" or 4" x 10" at one end of the cage would be good, with a hide at that end. If you don't use a dimmer or thermostat, use a space of about 1/4" to 1/2" between the flexwatt and the glass bottom, and the airspace will help in preventing the hot-spot on which the snake coils from becoming too hot.
