THis is my first season breeding a few of my kings. They recently came out of brumation and will get their first meals shortly. My question - when do I start putting the males and females together?
Any and all advice is most welcomed.
Thanks,
Jim

most folks wait until the female has had her first shed. If they don't breed after introducing them and trying for a few weeks, try again after the second shed. Some ssp will breed right out of brumation though, so it depends on the sub.

I think Joe pretty much covered it. I put some together early ( before shed) and then there are some milks that won't breed to April or even May. Like, sinaloans and hondo's. What kind of Kings do you have?

All - thanks for the replies. To answer one of the questions, I have brooksi / florida kingsnakes.
Thanks again,
Jim

As others have mentioned what ssp matters. I have a trio of pyros that live together all year round except for the brief time the gravid female is in her maternity tub. Some other ssp it maybe would not be a good idea to have them together all the time.
