When you say heat their stomach how do you mean? You dont mean with a hot rock do you? Females all act different when gravid, all of mine have been unique in their own ways kind of, but they also show some similiar signs........such as restlessness, digging or scratching, and of course the obvious like weight gain and lumpy looking bellies. A good investment is a digital scale that measures from 0-1000 or 2000 grams. Great way to monitor females. Chris

Yes BUT.... I monitored the hot rock to make sure that it is not too hot for her...... The hot rock doesn't heat up anymore then the rocks I had in her previous home that were maintaining the heat from the light and the heating pad.... The only concern with Hot rocks is that they can burn themselves RIGHT ?

Get the hot rock out.........I would personally never use one. Especially if it is near the basking site who knows if your dragon is trying to bask to get heat(this is how they know how to warm up) and actually sitting on her belly cooking the eggs inside.

If you have a basking light that reaches the correct temperatures, you don't need a hot rock at all. Why risk the health of your dragon on something that is notorious for shorting out, getting too hot and burning your dragon? They do not sense temperature variations from their bellies. You could put a block of ice under their basking light adn they would lie on it to get warm from the light above.

Though I never had a gravid dragon, from what other breeders here mention, they tend to pretty much look the same and act the same as always till a couple days before they are ready to lay. They will dig alot, adn be restless, the eggs themselves can be visible as irregular lumps along the dragon's sides and often can be felt if you probe gently along her belly. Obvious weight gain and a refusal to eat anything a day or two before she lays eggs.
