Breeding Rainbows.......

Blk_Eyed_Lucy Feb 26, 2012 12:59 PM

I picked up a Few slow grown Col. Rainbows 09's and a '10

2.3 to be exact and one of the Females is the 10

they have all now been on a feeding sched. of one to two mice every 5 days.

I have been told that with Rainbows you need to wait about 3 years for any breeding to take place. I am wondering whats a safe size and weight for my Females to breed?

the 2010 I am not goging to attempt anything till next year or the following year but these 09's are close to 40" and wondering if I pack them would it be safe to say they can go next fall?

Thanks for any and all Info

Also I have seen the leucistic colombian rainbow boa morph is this a simple Res. or a more complex trait??????

I do not have exact numbers. I think around 4 and a half feet and 2 pounds for female Epicrates maurus to be big enough to safely breed. At 40 inches now it may be difficult to get them large enough in just 9 or 10 months. If you keep them warm and growing through the end of the year you may get enough growth on them and be able to cool and breed them in january and february.
