New to the Forum, new to Leopards

Hello all. As the subject line states, I'm brand new around here, -and- I've never owned a leopard gecko before two days ago. I've spent a lot of time researching leopards, and I hope that I've done everything I need for it. It's very young and it seems very alert.

I've got:

5.5 gallon glass tank (will go up to 10 eventually)
paper towel substrate
tupperware hide box with peat moss
heat mat under one side
thermometers
shallow water dish
crickets that are fed potatoes and apples and dusted with vitamins

Anything else you might recommend? I think I have everything, but I want to make certain. Thanks!

Looks like you have almost everything. Only thing I would suggest are calcium powder in a little dish or on the crickets, and you should feed the crickets something like chicken meal or even one of the feeds available at the petstore, along with the potatos since they are mainly a water source.

While I'm even newer to this than you are I do have one suggestion that you might consider. I'd suggest you pick up a good quality thermostat to control your heat mat's thermal output.
