I had given up hope on this since it turned cold and all. We had a sort of warm day today. i thought I would walk down to my neighbors pond. That was the 1st time I went down there sinnce I was like 12 or so. I get real nervous around cows. I don't know why. Anyways I looked a bit and was on my way back and in a ditch of water and mud i saw a half log halfin water and half in mud. I thought about just passing it because the cows were just then heading towards the pond.( they usualy do about this time of the day) I did check under it and i saw this little brown head with a YELLOWish colored neck and BELLY. I could not believe it and I made the quickest grab I have ever done. and had it. I ran the whole half mile up the hill to my house, washed the snake off and took these pics. The hole year looking every where and it turned up pretty much in my back yard.

Well, it's party time at my house for Justin tonite!! "Fastest grab" eh? At times like that, it's not uncommon for me to go into shock, freeze up and have to jump into the mudhole to catch the snake! It's a beauty, no doubt about that.
Is it possible for you to snap some pics of it's belly also?
By the way (since I know EXACTLY what your saying about the cows), they really are harmless, dumb as a post and just curious. If/when you go back to look for more snakes, the worst they will do is get in your way to see what you're doing. Just tell them to beat it, and they will.

Yeah I will try to get a belly shot sometime. I will let it settle a little. It is the most bitey/muscky snake I hav ever found. i thought midlands were bad. I can't seem to get the smeel off my hands. About the cows i know they won't do anything. it is hard to explain. i just am nervous of them. I have lived by them my hole life and I feel the same as when i was little about them. I do aggre about them being as dumb as a post. Have plenty stories bout that but I will not waste a bunch a time on them.

It's the right thing to do to let it settle in. A wild, young adult like that will need time to adjust. I'm not a bit suprised that it bites/musks considering what it's been through!
As for the cows, EVERYTHING with fur makes me nervous!

I have had some actually charge though. My friend and I were out in central texas herping and looking through an old graveyard. A few came after us and we ended up having to jump a barbwire fence. My friends knee still has the scar that looks like he had to have surgery...it goes all the way around his knee. So just keep an eye on em...most cows won't do anything but, especially if they have calves, just keep on eye on em to make sure they don't rush you. Andy

the bull, and the females with calves are the ones that I worry about. Just about all of them have some babie and this morning I went down there and the cows started coming towards me and the mother went in front of the babies and startled me a bit so I climbed back up the huge hill. I would not be nearly as worried if the fence was closer to the pond. It is up a very steep hill about 70 yards awya. I just cann't outrun them in that distance. I would just have to get out my knowfe and fight it, and make me a steak, which would not work. Mayeb jump into the pond. I am 6' 3" 255 lbs and anything thats bigger than me I am nervous of. except crocs and gators. I lovem to death. Oh and the new yellow belly ate just a while ago to. big minnow.

You play football? If not, you should. Good luck with the water too. Andy

No foot ball. The other foot ballplayers are very dumb and imatture and can't get along with without beating them up. They are like half my size with mouths of satin.
