cal kings are just awesome..

mikefedzen Feb 28, 2012 01:47 AM

my collection of cal kings is up to 3.7, with 1.3 being proven breeders ready to go again this year and another 1.1 that could possibly breed this year.

here's one young male, 2010 hatch, that's growing super quick. this guy will easily take 6 or 7 good sized rat pinkies nowadays. I love the color on him, and he's very tame.

here's a female ghost, she's growing a little slower because she's picky about how many mice she'll take per feeding, but she's coming along nicely as well.

just got this female recently, fresh out of brumation, an adult female mosaic. I wanna see a light phase Ghost Mosaic cal king....

this male hatched in 09, one of the parents was a mosaic I think that's why he has this sort of vanishing pattern... might try and breed him to his sister this year, might wait till next year.

I agree. Very nice specimens. Is that first male a ghost also?

The first one is a "light phased" ghost that I produced. I have produced a few of them and only kept one....so they are out there. I also produced some "dark phased" ghosts.

Also sold a bunch of breeders this winter, so someone else will be producing cool stuff soon!

Those ghosts are looking good. Glad they went to a good home. Can't wait to see what they produce for ya.

Although I have reduced the number of cal kings that I now have....I will only be producing 12 - 13 cal king clutches this year......but hopefully some more cool stuff!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's where the vanishing is coming from. Very cool snakes, Mike. That light ghost is coming along nicely.

Don't get me wrong, I love my classic Cal king. He will kill or eat anything in front of him. He is a real bad ass. Unfortunately before went to bed the othernight I realized my Honduran did not eat the live hopper I gave it. So I threw it in the cage next to it for my thayeri. When I came home the next morning I found my classic Cal king inside my thayeris cage. I forgot to lock the top latch and he wedged himself in there. He took out my thayeri and ate the mouse.
I feel terrible.
