Snake pee question

Rottenweiler9 Oct 03, 2003 05:46 PM

Hello everyone, Ok what is a good bedding to use. I use astro turf but when my snake pees it stinks up the whole house. Right now I live in a condo, and man when I walk in from outside WOW and then I walk in my House and WOW again. Is there anything I can do to lighten the smell. I clean it right away but she always does it in the afternoon when I am at work.
Thank you
Jeff

You need something highly absorbant so that the urine is "held" until you can throw it out, instead of evaporating into the air where you have to smell it. You can use newspaper under your turf if you don't like the way it looks, or you can just toss the turf. I used astro turf for a few months in the late 70's but only had problems such as this and damage to cages. Plus, unless you somehow sterilyze your turf at least once every couple weeks, it can be unsanitary.
