Why you should eat your vegetables...

foxturtle Mar 03, 2012 01:34 AM

These two snakes are 6 month old siblings from the same clutch. Both males, and both were about identical as hatchlings. Can you guess which one has been the better feeder?

The smaller one actually feeds well now, and had just eaten two pinkies when this picture was taken.

That's crazy! It will be better once you move back down to the land of brown anoles.

Yeah, I've experienced that myself! What a difference, a good appetite can make, huh?

Both good eaters, but one eats six times as much as the others, guess which one. LOL!

I know the feeling; my two cribos are clutch mates (I'm getting an unrelated pair for mating them to as well). The male took longer getting established, and while a decent eater doesn't match the female. He's 55 grams last weigh in, she's 135 O.o No comparison shots because she WOULD eat him.

We wouldn't have 6 and a half billion people if you had to be beautiful to get laid.

In my experience, Florida kings (except hatchlings!) can be trusted not to eat each other. Even so, with that big a size difference, I half expected the big one to take a shot at eating the little one as I was taking photos.

Cribos sound really cool, and I'm considering getting a pair to work with.

I know what you mean exactly. These two are also 6-month-old clutchmates. The small one had just taken its first meal in this shot.
