Deppei Jani

DISCERN Mar 04, 2012 11:27 PM

Randy Whittington really has the most colorful, and best Jani out there, IMO. This is a 2010 female jani beauty, produced by Randy. With Jani, the fun of owning them is watching them flourish from the drab colors as babies into the gorgeous adults they turn into.

When I got this girl:

Pics taken today, at a year and a half of age:

The change has been insane, and she has a long way to go! You are really missing out if you do not have at least one of these in your collection.

I have to agree they are amazing animals. It's great to have a snake that gets better looking as it matures.
Here's my 20 month old female bred by Al Stotton;

To me they are truly one of the most beautiful snakes ...love the color pallette and subtle shading of a classic jani. I've got a very nice male but he is super whippy and no fun at all to handle.

Agreed!!!!!

A great example of something normal that doesn't need any " morphing " involved.

If you got a pic of your male, show it!!

My only regret is that it took me so long to pay them any attention!
I'm ashamed to say that I had the chance to buy a hatchling 12 months earlier, but thought them "a bit dull"!!!
My solitary girl is very shy, but with very short, daily handling sessions she is coming out of her shell and no longer hides away all day
One of my rare, early photo's from when I hardly ever saw her!

I thought she would grow to have a very unique look due to her super light background color as a hatchling but I've never seen one from the same parents that's tail blotches stayed black. That's really suprising to me. It gives it somewhat of an appearance of a d. deppei instead of a d. jani.

Here is father (top) and mother (bottom).

Yeah bro..the tail is actually not completely black, but a purplish hue, in terms of the darker blotches. Very hard to capture in pics.

She is a beauty!!

I noticed the dark tail blotches too. That's really neat, especially since neither parent had that appearance. My only breeding female at the moment is black all the way down, and she's the only one I'd ever seen with that color pattern.

(she's grown a LOT since that photo was taken)

You really never do know what you'll get from these guys. So much fun.
