my husband and I are in the process of making the final habitat for our red tailed boa. I have a few questions about heating our cage and lighting it. and other things too ^_^

this will be our first ever plywood construction (or wood in general) for caging. our dimentions are 8' x 2' x'2. to seal the interior i'm taking a page from my fish days with monster tanks and sealing it with marine epoxy, if it is safe for fish when cured can i make the assumption that it is safe for snakes as well?

also i've read so many good things about radient heat panals but what size should i use for this set up to adequately heat it? also should i also make use of a heat pad with this or is it sufficient by its self?

for viewing lighting, what is the best way to light this cage up? the only concern i have is putting a floruscent fixture into the cage with this stong of an animal. has any one here have experience using led lights recessed in th top of the cage?

I want to make this a nice display for the boa, not just a barebones QT setup. are there any woods besides pine and cedar that are toxic to them? i live near a lake with lots of fun looking drift wood.

thanks ahead

Ashley
