Bloodred bred to Amel would give me what?

ekanstar Oct 03, 2003 09:08 PM

Hi, I have a male bloodred and some amel babies from an unrelated pair. If I kept a female and bred them, what would the babies look like? The amels have normal colored siblings, and the bloodred had bloodred, amel bloodred, amel and normal siblings.
Thanx if anyone can help me out!
Beth

what traits did the parents display? For example: your bloodred had amel. sibs , was one of its parents amel bloodred? that would make your bloodred het amel. if the parents did not display amel ,that would make your bloodred only a possible het. for amel.

ok..the parents to the amel is a normal het amel and a sunglow amel...the parents of the bloodred are both normals that have had amels, amel bloods, bloods, normal and amel striped in the past.

hard to say because we don't know what they may be het for. but i would quess outbred bloodreds het for amel and maybe some amel outbred bloodreds (outbred bloodreds are just the het form of bloodred). If you want to spend some time on geneticswizard.com .It might give you a better idea if you tinkered with the online genetics calculater. put in different genes to see what results you would get on average.

What is your best guess on phenotypes? Do you think they would all look like normals?
