Clutch size ??

Holloway Mar 14, 2012 10:47 AM

What's the largest # of "Good" eggs that you know of from a ball python ?? I've had two clutches so far this year: one was 13 eggs and 12 were good and the other one was 14 with all of them being good. It just got me wondering ???

Captive size we have had a 15 eggs clutch.
We have had wc gravid sub-saharan females lay 20-21 eggs before as well.

Dang. That's awesome.
Glad I snagged some sub-saharan girls. So far one has dropped 8 eggs (my biggest clutch) and her larger sister is entering prelay shed. No idea what she will drop, but she has a good 1200 grams on her sister.

Those are huge clutches, Jeff. I can't remember who it was, but there was a 16 or 17 egg clutch posted last year. I'll try to track it down and send the info to you.
Talk later,
John

He's from Canada and it was a 17 egg clutch.
I won't post a link here b/c it will get deleted, but a quick Google search should work for anyone else interested in seeing it.

I have had 16 good eggs from a 17 egg clutch 2 years ago, my female is over 7000 grams. I am not sure on her age, she was large when i picked her up, she would have to be at least 15 years old, probably older. She is currently ovulating so im curious to see this clutch. Good luck, George

7000 grams?

Apparently nowhere near an industry record but my personal record was 14 last year from a 4,278 gram 15 year old girl. Every egg hatched (all normal, except one missing an eye) and they all ate great including the Cyclops (gave him away to some kids at a show). I'm only breeding her to co-dom males this year but her track record has been to skip 3-4 years between clutches so don't expect anything from her this year. My other girl this size looks like she'll go for the 6th consecutive year but she only gave 12 good eggs last year and I think only 9 hatched.

In my excitement I miscounted the first time and didn't correct the card until after I took the picture but it was 14 and not 15 eggs. Too bad it wasn’t a morph clutch!

What is the largest clutch size someone has gotten from a morph female?

I have heard of many large African imports or African F1s that produce large clutches, but what about female Pieds, Pastels, Clowns, Deserts *evil laugh*, etc?

My founder Garcia line chocolate female is pushing 4,500 grams and has produced as many as 12 eggs but I think the most hatched is 9. I had her out on breeding loans for 3 of her 5 clutches in the last 5 years and we generally split fairly even.

Both of those clutches(13 and 14 eggs) are from Axanthic females.
