Need advice on my Caiman.

I have a dwarf caiman. He's around 24" long. I recently built a new enclosure for him with land and basking area, a lot more water, plenty of filtration, and the water is around 88-89 degrees. I have read all of the information on captive care. But it has been nine days since the last time he ate. I'm getting really worried about him. I have tried live mice, dead mice, minnows, goldfish, herring, and nothing. I am wondering how long he can go without eating. Captive care says that they will not go very long without eating. So, what I am wondering, is should I take him to the vet or should I let him ride it out?

Well I am not an expert on Caimans or any other crocodilian for that matter but normally upon switching to a new invironment they take some time to get used to it. 9 day's isn't a terribly long time. Gators can go a pretty decent time without food. I would give him another week or so to settle in and get used to things. If he hasn't eaten by that point in time then get a vet to check him out. I hope this helps. Good luck

Chris
