Need some info on Pueblans home "eco-system."

seablazer Oct 03, 2003 09:59 PM

I am trying to set up a Pueblan cage before I get the snake. I'm trying to match as much as possible the cage to its home range.

Does anyone have any information/links that go into detail about the pueblan home range? I'm looking for common substrate, plants, etc.

Thanks

Refer to Robert Applegate's book "The General Care of Milksnakes." I believe there is a picture of one of the first early sites where he collected a Pueblan. The habitat looks somewhat arid but might also be higher elevation than our deserts. Lots of succulents, notably agava, lots of scattered rocks, flat areas and some gently rolling low hills. I'm curious myself of the elevation there.

The proper way to keep healthy snakes is to let them conform to YOUR environment as there is no way for you to duplicate theirs. That snake you have is likely f10(about the 10th generation captive bred!)so its great, great, great great grandfather grew up in a deli cup!! Which,by the way, may be a perfect MICROCLIMATE within their range. Dont hurt yourself thinking about it,Jeff
