For Those Selling Animals...A Question!

Bluesrains Mar 17, 2012 07:37 PM

I'm making this post because I just had a experience with a
Seller who refuses to show me any photos of the animals he
has for sale here on Kingsnake.

His answer to my email requesting photos, is, "if you have a particular animal, (snake) you're interested in, and if he had the
time, he would take a photo."
I emailed about the his post offering Blood Python Babies, so isn't this showing Interest?
How can I show particular interest in an animal I haven't seen?
I feel I should be able to see what I'm buying! Do you reading this, agree? Or do I ask too much?
Im rather miffed at this seller, for in my opinion, he has a lousy attitude, and shouldn't be posting to sell, if he isn't willing to show you what he has!!
If he doesn't have time to take a photo, this isn't my problem.
Maybe I'm missing something here?

Id like to know from other Sellers here on Kingsnake, how you
feel about providing photos to prospective buyers?

The seller I refer to has a website, which also has no photos!

I wrote back to this seller and told him, I wouldn't be troubling him any more for photos, or buying any animals from him.

My Final Thoughts On This Are...

"Common Sense Is A Thing Of Beauty, but we can't Buy it!!"

I simply skip ads with no pics if I am seriously looking to buy an animal, unless the seller is located close by. I have seen some killer snakes in person that were advertised with no pics. When that happens I am always amazed - it is as if I expected poor quality.

I think not everyone has the equipment or skill to take those amazing close-up pictures that we often see here.

I don't blame you for not purchasing, but I would not take it personally if a herper blows off your request. Have you met herpers? We can be a weird bunch.

Thanks for your reply. I did not take it personally as this seller
doesnt know me, but it just boggles my mind that asking him
for a photo, was asking too much. There was a photo with the ad, but the seller said, that was just a generic photo of the breed, not the actual animal, I wanted to look at.
As it is, Im buying an animal on someones word its healthy,
and if photos are provided, can only hope it is of the animal
Im buying. Then I must send money to this seller, and hope
he sends my animal.
I do realize there is a place here, that warns buyers of bad sellers, so thats a big help.
Yes, I know herpers can be weird. After all, I one, lol. I just dont
breed and sell animals.
I was rather upset when I posted this, perhaps, I shouldnt have.

Its because he doesnt have them. Hes a middleman/broker/horse trader. Advertise first then go get it from someone else.OR hes a real old timer that just cant bring himself to adapt a computer. I have to get someone to help me set up pics or I struggle to figure it out myself.( its that size thing, a real hassell) If your breeding it yourself you want to show pics of your work, if your proud of it. Even though everything I have all look a like. Of course it could be someone I know and now their mad!!! So what I'm old too. VM

All good points. I didnt think of these reasons. And I notice
the seller, sells everything, like a pet store. Thanks for this post.
By the way, if youre having trouble with sizing your photos,
there are many free photo programs you can get to crop them to a smaller size, generally 800x600 jpeg is an average size for
the web. Jpeg being the type of file, and the most used.
Type in "top free photo software" in search, and you'll pull up
some up. Hope this helps.

Unfortunately, common sense is like manners - once someone is an adult difficult to obtain.

Personally, I have never bought an animal that I haven't not only seen a pic of (because like you said, you don't know if it is of the actual aniaml) but interacted with. Unless you are looking for something to just look at - their temperment is a big part of the package.
