My tokay gecko has a swollen eye and his mouth is a kind of open and to the side a little bit... PLZ help !!!!!
First off, take it to the vet, now. From my experience, the swollen eye is not of much discomfort to the gecko. Infact it occurs quite frequently in skunk geckos and such. Usually it goes away for a few days and comes back. I belive it is due to either lack of vitamin A or E I forget which one. Furthermore, I belive that vitamin is found in vegitables. They must get it through gutloaded crickets or additional supplimentation. The mouth is open either due to a respiratory infection (low temperatures) or due to the discomfort the eye may be causing the gecko. There is a nice book called "General care and maintenence of Tokay Geckos (and related species)" by zarkowski or something I forget. Its a red book with a tokay on it. It has the disease in it because I think thats where I got this info. Go to a local shop and check it out, read it in the store because I'm not sure that its the exact book. Once again, vet, NOW.
