I was wondering if anyone could help me out, I caught a Scarlet King Snake that is about 13 inches long and is eatting Pinkies. I was wondering how much the snake would be worth if sold?

Thanks.

Hi!

And how much worth is it to keep the snake ?!

If you have only catched the snake to make some money better release her...but that is only my opinion.

I have to agree. I frown very heavily on selling w/c animals, so I would release it if you are not keeping it as a pet.

hmmm, this is a moral issue for folks. And me as well.

Scarlets are pretty common in the wild. And people don't want non pinky feeders. So it is not likely they are being depleted from the wild due to commecial collecting. I am definetly against commecial collecting for profit..

Now i don't agree with selling w/c snakes. But scarlets usually go to people who seek them out and know about the problem feeding. So to them, a pinky eating scarlet is worth a rare. They are not a snake that is being reproduced because the babies are small and difficult to get to eat. So they are legit single captives. I have never seen captive raised pinky feeding scarlets being sold unless they were albino.

What I have seen scarlet kings feeding on pinkies sell anywhere from $100-$200. at shows I saw a very large mouse eating scarlet sell for $250. a couple times.

What repulses me is when i see a tub of scarlets being sold for $25 at shows. Those are non pinky feeders and should be released. It is irresponsible to sell them and the sellers know it..not to mention they are ripping tree bark and overcollecting them for profit and nothing else.

Thank you for the information this is the first time I've caught one and I thought I would see if it was a snake people were interested in having because it is so beautiful.
