new pit housing

alstotton Mar 30, 2012 09:04 AM

Got busy over last few weeks building myself some nice new vivs for my bigger pits.
I used this type of set up very successfully in the 90's but in melamine/chipboard type wood, they were fine but the longevity was always a problem.Using an all plastic construction should avoid that hurdle.
Vivs or Racks? that age old question no longer applies when you have both combined. the underfloor trays are 1m x 500cm and act as a perfect hide/dark spot.

those wafer thin led downlighter provide just enough background light in the evenings

Thanks for Lookin'

Hi Al

Sweet rack. I really like the multi level housing. Great idea.

Outstanding!!! I do something like a very cheap knock-off of that by taking a thin board just a bit smaller than the tank floor dimensions, putting a couple 1" X 4" along each side lengthwise and cutting a couple holes in each end. This offers cover over the whole floor to maximize hide space with the max temp range and effectively creates a second story to double the floor space. On that of course go a water dish and other hides.

...but yours is just plain over-the-top excellent!

Wow Al, as always nice construction.
Maybe you have to start a factory with your rack and rack/cage constructions.
