axanthic cal kings

mikefedzen Mar 31, 2012 06:52 PM

I remember Jeremy T posting a pair of axanthic cal kings a little while back.... for being a completely new morph they were oddly very cheap (less than 200 for the pair?). I never got an email response about the history of this morph. I wonder why. I also wonder if anybody bought them hoping to produce "more" "axanthic cals".

Mike, this is the same morph as the ones they are calling Anery & ghost & hypo and now axanthic. hahaha They have darker than normal eyes, but look hypo like the Palomar ghost. They came from strait desert phase originally and the hets are said to have yellow bands, which really doesn't make sense. They range from medium brown to very dark brown as babies and lighten up considerably as they mature. Here's what was posted about them a while back. This guy never returned to post pictures after it was requested. Shame on him. lol

It depends on what you want to call it. I would call them hypos.

Oh well.

I know what a axanthic desert king looks like, I would assume that a axanthic cal king would be similar.

Yea but there are two different looks to the axanthic splendida. Some are white and some are bluish.....

You know you are a novice if you are feeding skinks to a mole king.

Wow....you are getting old...lol
I've posted this one here a few times and you even mentioned once that you wanted one like her....

Btw Billy....I have a bluish male too.....Don has told me that you can breed a blue to a white and get some of both and some normals.....I wonder if there are two different genes at work....

So does that mean they are one in the same recessive gene yet they express themselves differently?

How do the eyes compare on both?

Eyes are the same.....

If it was two different genes then that would explain the fact that when bred together they produce normals, whites and blues.....

If it was the same gene that expresses itself differently that wouldn't explain the normals that hatch out......

I don't know if Don's white ones carry the bluish gene or if the bluish ones carry the white gene from being crossed or what's going on...

Don could answer this better than I can....

Those are what i referred to as hypos. The pic i posted below was the same morph which I got from Gourmet rodent in 2007.
