Southern pine progression

DISCERN Mar 31, 2012 09:01 PM

I still trip out on how much this southern pine has changed in just a year and a half of age/since I owned her.

Day I got her:

A while later, the next year:

Last fall:

Most recent pic:

That is one of the things that I absolutely love about pines. You may never know exactly how they will turn out!! Part of the fun of watching them grow.

Produced by John Meltzer.

Thanks bro!

She is so freaking awesome. Just a year and a half old, and already, so much color transformation.

Who knows what she will look like as a full adult?

That's one sweet snake, Billy.

Although I've never kept them, I've always dug the variability of S. Pines.

Yea, I was expecting her to turn out as a silvery gray/brown blotched pine, but was realy pleasantly surprised with these results.

By the way does John Meltzer have a website or anything. I was doing a seach and it looks like he's the man when it comes to pines.

DISCERN Apr 01, 2012 05:45 PM

No, he doesn't have a website unfortunatley.

Wow, that color shift from the cool grayish tones to the warm butter of the last image is really neat. If someone asked me if that was a mugitus I probably have said ..."not quite sure what it is".

Beautiful snake. Southerns are and always have been my favorite Pits. I didn't have any at all for about 10 years and got the itch again a few months ago. I tracked down a hatchling Ocala-locality male from John Cherry. He's currently super orange but already beginning to change, I can't wait to see how he ends up turning out. Now if I could just find more of them. I check the internet for them almost daily. So hard to find pure normals these days. Some Albinos and Snows are impressive but nothing will ever beat a quality normal, IMO.

Thanks Ryan!!

I absolutely love the southern morphs, but you are correct, nothing beats a normal!

That snake is awesome!

Southerns are by far my favorite snake of all time. I was just telling a friend that you can't sell any hatchlings for at least a year, so you can get an idea of what they will look like.

They just keep getting better with every shed.
