No Type B columbians.....

BoaBud Apr 03, 2012 06:41 AM

.......this year. I acquired a pair of Jim Peters Type "B" Colombians last summer. .The male was in good shape but the female was thin....too thin.

Hope against hope I paired them up Nov. 1st for a breeding trial.....As expected the male worked his butt off but I never got an ovulation.

Mother nature knows best. This girl was in no shape to breed and she didn't....I've learned my lesson..... In the wild birds and reptiles will not produce in the lean years. . . . and I think that is what happened in this case. Although in captivity she had experienced some lean years.

She is about 7' and still lean.......I'm gonna feed her up for a year and see what she look likes next year.....I bet it will take me two years under my care before I get her to produce......

Thank you for your support........

Sorry to hear this Buddy ,I was really looking forward to this litter.

The good news is that the fem is healthy and with some "TLC" she'll
be ready to go this next season or the one after

Make sure you let me know when she breeds or if you decide to let the pair go, plz give me a holler ?

Jim Peters had a website called ONESNAKE.COM but it seems to be down! 8( I'm pretty sure he had two Normal group collections that he kept breeding's separate from two wild type pairs labeling them A and B lines! I wish his website was still up, he had some killer pics and great info to share

Morphism . . . Ulyssess

They are Not Jungle Boa and have nothing to do with Jungle Boas

OK it's hard for me to remember exactly but Jim Peters identified two Boa types in the Colombian Boas he was working with.

The "Type A Colombians " and the "Type B Colombians"

were identifiable by the type and color of the ocular / post ocular stripe they had.

I believe the color and possibly shape of that ocular stripe were the primary indicators of which classification the Boa fell into . . . either Type "A" or Type "B".

That is about as much as I can remember
