heyo, I have a bout 3 ft ball python, a rescue, and i have two questions. Sexing, how? And i have an exo terra 18x18x24 that i dont use currently, do ball pythons need alot of horizontal room or are they more arboreal? Cause mine comes out to bask at night so far.

I use a 20 gallon tank for my 3 foot ball. I think they need more horizontal space.

And leave sexing to the experts. You have to probe them. I had my sexed by a local breeder, but a vet should be able to do it for you. If you do it and you are inexperienced then you could risk hurting your snake. Typically speaking, males are smaller than female. My 3 foot male is 4 years old. My 4 foot female is also 4 years old. Feeding can also depend on it, but for most of the time females are larger.

Horizontal space, and belly heat is best. In the wild they spend most of their time underground in termite holes/mounds, so they don't need light. They do better with heat from below, or if it is from above, I'd suggest a ceramic heat emitter. Gives off heat but not light, which can bother nocturnal species.
