Lizard for 55 gallon?

Bammer Oct 04, 2003 09:26 AM

I was just wondering of some speicies of lizard that can could live in a 55 gallon aqaurium as an adult. I would like to get a tegu or monitor, but the size and potential to eat me out of house and home is not good... My boa constrictors take that job. I was looking for something that eats a good deal of veggies and fruits and was really handible. I really love south american fauna, but it doesnt really matter in this case. I would like something from a rainforest.

I have considered a beardie, ackies, waterdragons(55 is probally to small for WD though...), basilisks... and that is it... what about prehensile tailed skinks?

Thanks in advance...

55 is too small for a WD. You could keep one good sized beardie in there. Ackies or Timor monitors would be ok. Also, fire skinks and crocodile skinks, and Rhacodactylus geckos. I think it's a bit small for even one PTS, and people say you should have those in pairs anyway. Uromastyx would be an option too, I think.
I find feeding mouse eaters cheaper than feeding insect eaters, just so you know.

Peter: It's OK, I'll handle it. I read a book about something like this.
Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?
