Easter eggs in the making

mikefedzen Apr 09, 2012 12:56 AM

Even after eating, my albino male annulata freaked out when I put the smallest female with him, so he's sitting the bench for the season probably. After that happened I decided it was time to throw the apricot het albino male with the spotted female.

He wasted no time...

I also threw my other het albino annulata male in with the albino female, last time I put the apricot male with her and she fought him off till he gave up. But this male was trying to lock up with her and she wasn't fighting it, good sign that she was ready...

But I took him out. I want to breed the apricot het albino to her so I can confirm he's actually het albino... this way I'll know if I'm creating possible hets with the other breedings. So I separated them and put the het albino in with a 09 normal.

After giving the apricot het albino male some time off after breeding with the spotted(probably 8 hours), I put him in with the albino.

They were just curled up like this for a hour, so I got a bowl of water and flicked it at the snakes for a couple minutes. I was aiming to simulate rainfall, lol.

Came back 10 minutes later to this...

This guy loves biting necks, haha. I wonder if my wannabe rainfall got it going...

"Wannabe rainfall" I love that. Hey, maybe that helped things get going.

Nice, a little action is always good. Especially with such nice annulata. I usually mist my snakes in the spring when I do a quick check, not enough to soak the substrate but just enough to moisten the air. I think it helps, it natural for them. They always say "April showers bring May flowers".

Yeah I couldn't find my spray bottle for the life of me, lol, did your albino/het lock up more than once? Are you outcrossing any this year? I talked to Bob Applegate yesterday and he's working with albino annulata too.

Isn't that always the case, need it, want it , can not ever find it.LOL. Yes, mine locked up at least 6 times that I saw. Once they locked up I kept them together for a couple of days and did that a few times until the female was getting agitated with him. No out crossing this year, all I have is the Amel male and het female this year and a nice pair of pinbanded for next. I have been trying to find some of the old Renegade aberrant ones. Hopefully Susan will sell some this year. I have been contacting her to see if she would sell any of them for 2 or 3 years. A nice pair of spotted, Renegades Loco line, and some hypo are on the must have for this year.

My female looks like a tricolor ball python.LOL. She's starting to darken up and will probably go opaque here in the next day or so. I will post some pics after she sheds.

Is anybody having success with that Loco line? And what's this I hear about a hypo, wasn't there an anery annulata produced a year or 2 ago, or is that the hypo? I tried to get in touch with Susan a week ago and couldn't. I had a pair of annulata like 5 years ago that were supposed to be "het for something special" but my female had to have some kind of internal parasite or something because she never held on weight so she was never bred.

I don't know about the anery, I haven't heard of any since I think someone in LA had produced one in the late 90's or 2000's. I don't know of anyone working with the Loco line other than Susan as she acquired all of Renegades animals from what I remember.
