Hello All,

I have a trio of BTS that have bred in the past. They were given to me in November of last year shortly after having their first litter. I have weighed them and measured the width of their head in an attemp to identify each animals sex. All the measurements were similar. Oh well. I was told that they should be about 5 years old.

I tried to give them a "Winter" period of drier conditions and lower temps (80s day and 60's night). In the Spring they were put into an outdoor inclosure for the first time in their lives. (See photos below) Up until then they had lived and bred in the same small tank. As many people have reported the became much more aggressive and territorail in the outdoor inclosure. They were perfect and now two have lost parts of their tails and one lost MOST OF A HIND FOOT!

They have come in for the Winter now. They now have a four foot Neodesha cage with deep aspen and a big Rubbermaid hidebox that is kept a bit humid. I am keep in the temps and food up until birth or I am convinced they are not pregnant.

I gave you al that info so you could answer this question. They have developed rough skin texture. Is this scar tissue from the outdoor fighting or some sort of skin infection? If so is an over the counter medicne likely to work or is this a job for a vet?

Thank you and sorry for the long post,

Brian
