Anatomy Question

JHM1987 Apr 15, 2012 10:42 AM

Do snakes have paranasal sinuses?

One of my girls has went through a round of baytril per vets instructions with little luck. Her nose is swollen. The vet says she has a sinus infection, and the next step is to cut open her nose and scoop out the infection. I've searched and searched but can not find any detailed anatomy diagrams or info on the head of a snake.

Any help appreciated!

In the event of infection in reptiles, a sample of the infection should be obtained. The sample should be submitted to a lab for culture and sensitivity testing. The lab will grow any bacteria and test its sensitivity to a series of antibiotics. This is the only effective way to diagnose and treat the infection.

Don't count out "rostral trauma"!
